War in Gaza

Director Jonathan Glazer was the first winner to talk about the war in Gaza in his speech. He was referring to the film, which also shows that ignoring atrocities was part of the problem of World War II. “We made all our choices in the film to reflect on the present,” Glazer said. “The film shows what dehumanizing people can lead to.” Hüller was moved to tears during the speech.

Then Glazier made a reference to the war in Gaza. “The Holocaust is now being hijacked by an occupation that has led to conflict for so many innocent people,” the director said. “Whether it concerns the victims in Israel on October 7 or the ongoing attack in Gaza.”
