Dutch amateur cyclist died in Spain

A Dutch amateur cyclist has died at L’Etape Granada, an amateur cycling race in the Spanish province of Granada.

This is reported by the Spanish news agency Europa Press. The organization informs the news agency that it is a 43-year-old man.

According to Europa Press, the man was seriously injured in an accident in the municipality of Albuñuelas on Sunday while competing in the race. The cyclist would have fallen in a bend of a slope. He died Monday in hospital from his injuries.

The organization said it was “very saddened” and “deeply sorry for what happened” and “expressed its deepest condolences” to the family of the deceased cyclist.
