Dusseldorf applies for game transfer against Paderborn

At Fortuna from Düsseldorf, things have been going well again since Daniel Thioune took over. Under him, the club got ten out of twelve possible points. The second division team currently has completely different concerns.

Second division team Fortuna Düsseldorf has applied to the German Football League (DFL) to move the game at SC Paderborn on Saturday (1.30 p.m., in the live ticker on t-online) due to a massive corona outbreak. According to a club announcement on Thursday, 14 players are in quarantine after positive PCR tests. Coach Daniel Thioune, like other members of the functional team, is also infected.

Allofs: “Hope there won’t be any more cases”

Fortuna announced that they no longer had a playable team. “Due to the high number of corona-related absences, we are in constant contact with the DFL,” said sporting director Klaus Allofs. “We have now applied for the game to be rescheduled. We hope that everyone affected will continue to do well and that there will be no further corona cases.”

According to the DFL rules of play, at least 16 players are required to play a game, including at least nine licensed players, including a goalkeeper. Suspended and injured players are considered “available”.
