Duo arrested after pursuit: eleven criminal offenses committed

A 35-year-old man from De Kiel and a 36-year-old man from Emmen were arrested just before six this morning after a chase on a scooter by Emmen. They are suspected of having committed eleven criminal offenses together.

The police found the duo on the Statenweg in Emmen and wanted to check the scooter. The driver fled, but had to stop a short distance away. The co-driver then fled on foot. The driver wanted to follow his example, but got a electroshock weapon aimed at him and stopped. The co-driver was also found after a search.

Police say the driver was in possession of drugs and the co-driver was under the influence of drugs. The scooter also turned out to be stolen and the license plate did not belong to the moped. The duo also had tools with them, which are used to break in. The police regard carrying these tools with them as preparations for a break-in. Finally, both men refused to identify themselves to the police.

Both men are still in custody. The scooter goes back to the owner.
