After a chase by Dutch and Belgian agents, two men were arrested on Saturday evening at the Belgian lake. They are suspected of a burglary attempt at a company in Raamsdonksveer. During the chase, one of the police cars was driven into.
Three or four people were in the getaway car, which had false license plates.
In danger
The pursuit led via the A27 and A58 via the Ulvenhout exit and through Strijbeek to Belgium. The driver of the pursued car committed several traffic violations. Among other things, he drove over the emergency lane and endangered other motorists. He also cut off a police car several times.
The suspects were monitored by a police helicopter during the chase. The control room has since alerted the Belgian police services. In the end, the getaway car drove over a so-called stop stick placed by a Belgian agent in Meer. The car then crashed and the suspects fled on foot.
Search
During the subsequent search, which was coordinated by the Belgian police and in which a dog handler from the Netherlands was also deployed, two suspects – including the driver – were eventually arrested.
