Dunja Hayali (48) will join the moderation team of the news magazine “heute journal” from February 20th. The moderator is known to most viewers from the “ZDF morning magazine” and the “aktuelle sportstudio”.
In the future, Dunja Hayali will lead through the “heute journal” around 40 times a year. In addition to the experienced TV personality, Marietta Slomka (53) and Christian Sievers (54) are in front of the camera for the program on a weekly basis. A few weeks a year, the format is also moderated by ZDF news boss Anne Gellinek.
ZDF Editor-in-Chief Bettina Schausten: “The best minds should present and profile our flagship, ‘heute journal’. Each with their own character, but all with the highest level of journalistic experience, competence and independence. I am very pleased that Dunja Hayali will occasionally moderate the ‘Today Journal’ in addition to the ‘Morgenmagazin’.”
Dunja Hayali herself on the new challenge: “I’m looking forward to returning to where everything started for me on ZDF and to complementing the team around Marietta, Christian and Anne.”
The experience in the “heute journal” is not really new for Hayali, because: From 2007 to 2010 she was already there as a co-moderator. She has also been an integral part of the “ZDF morning magazine” for 15 years, which she presents together with Mitri Sirin (51).
