Dunhill appoints Simon Holloway as creative director

Dunhill taps Simon Holloway to the role of creative director.

Holloway, who was most recently creative director at James Purdey & Sons, a brand that, like Dunhill, is owned by luxury goods group Richemont, will take up his new role effective immediately, Richemont said on Wednesday. His successor at Purdy is to be announced shortly.

With the appointment of Holloway, the successor to designer Mark Weston, who according to his profile on the career network LinkedIn left the British menswear label after five years in October 2022, has now been determined. Holloway brings “a thorough and comprehensive understanding of English style” and embodies British heritage. His vision is intended to reinforce the vision of CEO Laurent Malecaze, who was appointed in 2022, and reaffirm Dunhill’s focus on British craftsmanship, innovation, functionality and masculine elegance, according to the release.

“It is a great privilege to be named Dunhill’s creative director and to be entrusted with the rich and exceptional legacy of the founder,” said Holloway. “Alfred Dunhill was a pioneer, an innovator and one of the most influential British ‘tastemakers’ of the 20th century. His passion for invention and sophistication has created a house synonymous with purposeful luxury and quality – an enduring and powerful inspiration.”

The British designer started his career as a fashion design student at Kingston University School of Fashion in London and has held various positions at brands such as Narciso Rodriguez, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Jimmy Choo and Hogan throughout his career. Before joining Purdey & Sons in 2022, he was creative director of Italian brand Agnona for almost five years.
