Festivals with an audience
The fourteen Liberation Festivals can continue with an audience again this year. Due to the corona pandemic, the previous two editions were held completely online. Suzan & Freek, Duncan Laurence, Fresku and Donnie are the Ambassadors of Freedom and perform at the festivals. They also pay attention to current developments in Ukraine, according to the organization.
Freedom
As every year, the festivals on 5 May reflect on the importance of freedom, democracy and the rule of law. ‘In addition, May 5 is also a day to realize that freedom is vulnerable. The fact that thousands of people worldwide are now taking to the streets to speak out against the war confirms the power of solidarity and the importance of an open democratic society.
In total, more than three hundred performances and ‘substantive activities’ are planned throughout the country. It is not yet known what time Duncan will perform in Roermond. The ambassadors are again expected to be flown from location to location by helicopter throughout the country.
