Duncan Laurence raises serious doubts about his integrity. He has traveled to the recording of Best Singers, while he claims to be ‘mentally exhausted’. “Is he lying?”
It’s incredibly strange: Duncan Laurence has the release of his new album on Friday hold because ‘overtired’ and ‘mentally exhausted’ would be. But what turns out? A day later, yesterday, he traveled to the recording set of Best Singers. He will record eight episodes during intensive shooting days.
‘quite strange’
Star photographer William Rutten finds this very strange. He speaks Show news, which speaks of a ‘bizarre twist’, expresses doubts. “Of course this comes as quite a surprise. Dear Singers is quite tough, because the recording days are very long, I can tell from experience. I have been there once.”
Colleague Natacha Harlequin: “It’s not smart for him.”
William: “It’s startling, after yesterday you said: ‘I’m going to take a rest.’ And then you will now work there for eight days. That is of course quite strange.”
‘I do not get it’
If Duncan is really exhausted, then this cannot be reconciled, according to Ronald Molendijk. “I don’t really get it. I have a big question mark about it, especially from a production point of view. If you read the day before: that man is not doing well, why would you drag him along and put him in front of a camera?”
The recording schedule is very tough, Ronald knows. “Such a program is on television for 45 minutes or an hour per episode, but filming takes just one day. More is thrown away than is saved. In the end you just literally put that man in the spotlight. I personally wouldn’t do it and I don’t think it’s responsible.”
“Is he lying?”
Then William raises the question of whether Duncan is telling the truth. “Or it doesn’t work at all. That is of course also possible. That it was an excuse.”
Ronald: “That is also possible. Then that one post from him… But I mean: if you pour out your heart like that…”
William: “I have to say: the production company that makes this program, they are really very careful people, so that’s why I have something like: they don’t just happen overnight, so is that whole story ehh … plausible?”
Natacha: “The point is simply: if you have mental problems… Just relax at home in front of the TV, with your tea, blanket over you. Done, nothing for a while.”
Aran also has doubts
Aran Bade, the RTL Boulevard show connoisseur, also has his doubts. “It is very striking. I think this cannot be reconciled, also towards the fans and also towards themselves. You cannot put an artist physically and mentally exhausted on a plane, like: go ahead and sing. I honestly wonder what is going on.”
Of course it could be an image thing; that Duncan wants to play the tortured artist. Aran doesn’t rule it out. “Whether he is really exhausted mentally and physically, I wonder.”
