AMSTERDAM – It hadn’t been a cycling party in the head of Tom Dumoulin for a while, who abruptly announced his farewell. “The tank is empty, and the legs feel heavy,” said the 31-year-old from Maastricht himself. He can call himself one of the best Dutch cyclists ever, who brought many cycling fans into ecstasy. Dumoulin says goodbye to his life as a professional after turbulent and difficult years. Although it suits the Limburger with the heart on his tongue, he still deserved a better farewell than is now the case.
