Dylan “DullenMIKE” Neuhausen has qualified for the final tournament of the Virtual Bundesliga individual championship. Relieved, he sat slumped in his chair with the championship trophy in his hand. The defending champion trembled in the penalty shoot-out for the ticket to Cologne.
“I need mental help,” said DullenMIKE in his live stream on Twitch shortly after the crucial penalty. He wiped the sweat from his nervousness on his sweater. The Focus player couldn’t have made it any more exciting this weekend. In Swiss mode, he narrowly made it to the knockout stage with three wins in five games.
After losing to Deniel “Denii10” Mutic (2:3; 1;3), DullenMIKE fell into the lower bracket. There he needed three wins in a row to keep his chance of defending the title. DullenMIKE completed the series in a heart-stopping final against underdog Pascal “tamp_bhv” Guscic from SV Meppen.
Two other Focus teammates were playing for a place in the final tournament: Mustafa “Musti” Cankal easily qualified through the upper bracket, Koray “Kkoray” Kücükgünar was knocked out.
