Gucci and The North Face unveil the third round of their collaboration. This time, the collaboration’s items will be available exclusively at Gucci’s online concept store Gucci Vault, the Italian fashion house announced on Monday.
The third collaboration of the outdoor brand and the Italian fashion house includes a limited number of duffle bags – 150 models are offered. The bag’s sturdy construction, whose name “Base Camp Duffle” already suggests the design, has been designed to collaborate with new patterns inspired by the design DNA of Gucci Vault, Gucci’s creative marketplace, launched in autumn 2021 and has since “continuously ventured into uncharted territory of luxury.” Green and yellow stripes are reminiscent of the visual identity of the online shop.
The drive to explore that Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele seeks to tap into with Gucci Vault is emblematic through the project with The North Face – since the Californian label has been a pioneer in durable clothing and gear designed for discovery since its founding in 1966 is. The North Face thus became “the choice of athletes and explorers, from the metropolis to the mountaintop,” as Gucci writes.
Gucci and The North Face first collaborated in late 2020 with a collection inspired by hiking adventures. A year later, a second collaboration followed, which used a similar aesthetic – this time, however, instead of being staged on an idyllic mountain pasture in the gloomy volcanic landscape of Iceland.
