Meribel (dpa) – The German ski team finished third in the mixed competition at the alpine season finale in France.
The weakened quartet around slalom specialist Lena Dürr prevailed 3-1 against world champion Norway in the small final of the parallel races in Meribel. After a sovereign success over Italy, the Germans failed in the semi-finals because of the eventual winner from Switzerland. Second place went to Olympic champion Austria.
Besides Dürr, Julian Rauchfuss was the only athlete on the German team who also contributed to winning the silver medal in the mixed event at the Olympic Winter Games in China a month ago. The squad was completed by Fabian Gratz and Antonia Kermer. The battered top drivers Linus Straßer and Alexander Schmid had taken it easy for their individual races at the weekend.
