DSV star Linus Straßer wins the Schladming night slalom

The German Linus Straßer caused a surprise at the night slalom in Schladming. The Munich driver won the race with a very strong second run.

Ski racer Linus Straßer won the night slalom in Schladming, Austria, thanks to a splendid second run. The 29-year-old from TSV 1860 Munich won ahead of Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath on Tuesday and celebrated the third World Cup success of his career.

After recent mixed results, the Upper Bavarian put a big exclamation point just before the Winter Olympics (February 4th to 20th). The success on the Planai was the third World Cup title in Strasser’s career and the second this winter. Austrian Manuel Feller was third.

The other starters from the German Ski Association had missed the second round. Julian Rauchfuss and Alex Schmid, both of whom are starting in Beijing, were eliminated due to driving errors, as were Fabian Himmelsbach and Anton Tremmel. Although David Ketterer crossed the finish line, he was too slow.
