DSV announces biathlon squad for Östersund

The German biathlon team goes into the World Cup races in Östersund, Sweden, with no changes. As the German Ski Association (DSV) announced on Tuesday, the same twelve athletes who were there last week in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic) will start.

The line-up is once again led by sprint world champion Denise Herrmann-Wick and former world champion Benedikt Doll. Most recently, the DSV team in the Czech Republic did not have a place on the podium, even if in some cases not much was missing from the top.

“We want to continue the positive trend from the individual competitions in Nove Mesto and put ourselves in the limelight in the last individual competitions of the season and the mass start races,” said sporting director Felix Bitterling.

The goal is also to win the last women’s relay of the season on Saturday (2:00 p.m.) in order to take advantage of the chance to win the small crystal globe. The task of the men’s quartet (4:30 p.m.) is to “rehabilitate themselves after fifth place at the World Cup”.

In addition to Herrmann-Wick, the women start with Janina Hettich-Walz, Hanna Kebinger, Sophia Schneider, Vanessa Voigt and Anna Weidel. In addition to Doll, the men also have Johannes Kühn, Philipp Nawrath, Roman Rees, Justus Strelow and David Zobel.

On Thursday, the women (1:15 p.m.) and the men (4:20 p.m.) start in singles. After the two relays, the mass starts for women (1:00 p.m.) and men (4:00 p.m./all ZDF and Eurosport) are scheduled for Sunday.
