Dry weather ahead, but first some showers and clouds

It won’t be really cold today, but it will remain changeable. And that means: lots of clouds and showers from time to time. From Friday we can finally put away the umbrellas and rain gear.

Just like yesterday afternoon and evening, there are quite a few showers and clouds on the menu for our province today. These hang mainly above the coastal area and the center of North Holland, says NH weatherman Jan Visser.

It will also rain this afternoon, although there are some dry periods in between. During the afternoon, but especially this evening, it will gradually become drier. “Then the entire battery of rain areas will disappear,” says Visser.

Sun and little wind

In the morning it will be 8 degrees, the temperature will rise a maximum of one degree during the afternoon. The wind blows weakly from the south in the morning, and in the afternoon it blows from the east. Then there is a moderate northeasterly wind that can blow quite strongly near Texel. Tonight the same is the case at the IJsselmeer, where it can reach wind force six.

Tomorrow morning the weather will be a bit better: the day starts dry, there is occasional sunshine and there is little wind. Although the afternoon will be cloudy, rain is not on the menu. There is only a chance of some drizzle in the evening. The temperature will be slightly cooler by 5.6 degrees. The wind is weak to moderate and comes from the northwest, later in the day the wind blows from the southwest.

Drier outlook

From Friday, North Holland will experience a longer dry period. Temperatures will also be quite mild at 9 degrees, according to Visser. During the weekend the temperature can even rise another degree. These mild temperatures will continue at the beginning of next week: it will also be around 10 degrees.

Because moist air is supplied, it remains cloudy, which can also cause fog. Rain chances will increase again around the middle of next week. “There are also some dry days,” says Visser. “But you see more changeable weather, with the temperature dropping slightly.”

Merry Christmas

The mild temperatures will continue for the time being. According to the weatherman, it now looks like we will have a mild Christmas. So no icy, frozen Christmas atmosphere. “It doesn’t look like it for now, no.”
