Drunk driver (18) who drove into the house with a car, did not have a driver’s license

The man who drove into a house in Prinsenbeek in the car of an employment agency on Saturday night did not have a driver’s license. That’s what the police say. It concerns an 18-year-old Romanian who had drunk too much. He had the keys to the car, but no permission to drive it.

The man is not registered in the Netherlands, according to the police. Presumably he lives in a house with other temps and took the keys without permission. He was taken to the police station at night on suspicion of drunk driving. He has now been released.

In any case, the man did not have permission to drive the car, Lennart Brinkman, director of employment agency IFC, told Omroep Brabant. He was not yet aware of the accident. “But we only let temporary workers drive our cars who have a driver’s license. We even check those driver’s licenses for authenticity.”

Wake up calls from witnesses
Lamar and Yvonne, the residents of the house, were not home. They are a long weekend to Lille in France. They rent Yvonne’s brother’s house. That brother (Michiel) was also on holiday and was at the campsite in Bladel with his wife Patricia and children. “We were woken up by terrace visitors who saw the accident happen. They also stopped the driver when he wanted to leave,” says Patricia van Gils.

The homeowners still drove to Prinsenbeek at night. “Scared. Can’t believe they drive in at this place, on a straight street,” says Patricia. You are only allowed to drive 30 kilometers per hour in the street. “Probably the man drove faster, but a lot of damage can also occur if you just enter on the wrong corner,” said the owner, who is happy that no one was injured. “Fortunately no one was home. Rather material than personal damage.”

House was just completely renovated
Her husband Michiel de Ridder is busy taking photos for the insurance company. All night they were busy with the accident. “The fire brigade has been, the police, construction engineer and a company that has repaired the first damage inside and outside,” says Patricia. no more damage.

The annoying thing: the whole house had just been renovated. “That renovation was really just finished. The residents have only been there for a few months, everything was spic and span. Now we have to start over partly. But we put our shoulders under it and on,” says Patricia cheerfully.
