Brawl in Wilmersdorf! With a clenched fist, an drunk Briton (43) hit a relative (45) in the face on Brandenburgische Strasse on Sunday evening so hard that she fell to the ground. When a witness (32) tried to intervene, he was also beaten.

According to a spokeswoman, the police were alerted to the altercation at around 9 p.m. Three men (45, 24, 20) and two women (43, 23) got into an argument on the sidewalk. Insults were shouted at each other in English, then there was a punch.

According to BZ information, all those involved are British citizens and related to each other. One family member lives in Berlin, the other four are visiting.

According to the police, a passer-by (32) wanted to calm the situation – and was also beaten. The family dispute suddenly seemed forgotten. Everyone hit the man together, who actually just wanted to help. He was hit in the head and later taken to hospital.

When the police intervened, there were further attacks. Four police officers were slightly injured when they arrested the British, some of whom were heavily drunk. Two of the thugs (24, 43) breathed alcohol levels of over two per thousand during a breath alcohol test. Two others didn’t want to blow and had to have their blood taken. Only one family member (20) was sober and had zero blood alcohol content.

The police have launched an investigation into charges of assault, resistance and bodily harm against all five people arrested. However, it is still unclear why the dispute even broke out.
