Drugstore chain dm increases salaries and pays special payments

KARLSRUHE (dpa-AFX) – Because things are going very well at the dm drugstores, the Karlsruhe-based group is increasing salaries by six percent retroactively to April 2023 and is also paying all employees two special payments. According to information from Thursday, this is, on the one hand, a tax- and duty-free inflation compensation of 650 euros for each full-time employee and 450 euros for trainees. As an additional annual payment, all full-time employees received 850 euros and people in training received 600 euros.

The financial year ends at dm in September and was probably successful. The company, which is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary, owes this to the great response from customers, said the chairman of the dm management, Christoph Werner, according to the statement. “Our approximately 50,000 colleagues in Germany made the difference every day and made this result possible.”

In view of the sluggish collective bargaining in retail, the collective bargaining committee of the German Trade Association (HDE) recommended non-tariff increases to companies on Monday. Companies bound by collective agreements have the option of paying out “voluntary, creditable advance increases of 5.3 percent” from October 1st at the earliest. Since dm is not organized in an employers’ association, the group can deviate from the above recommendation.

If there is a higher collective bargaining agreement, dm will adjust the increase accordingly, explained a spokesman. Reference to the collective agreements is guaranteed in every employment contract at dm. The applicable retail tariff and any tariff increase are therefore contractually guaranteed to the employees./kre/DP/nas
