“Drugs”: Coach Torky Tork sends Audio88 and Dendemann to a socially critical warm-up

Hip-hop producer Torky Tork has been preparing the release of his new producer album AKA DER COACH II since mid-December 2022. Today (February 24th) he released the fifth single “Drogen” from the eleven-track project. Audio88, an experienced member of the Torky squad, and German rap veteran Dendemann meet on it. The full LP, the successor to the first part of the series released in 2021, will be released on March 10th.

The producer shares the fate of many of his colleagues. For years he has had his fingers in many places, he has produced large and small songs, made several well-known albums, built up a confusing but rich oeuvre and he is usually introduced according to the motto “If you know you know”. This is certainly also due to the fact that its sound is not “Modus Mio”-optimized.

A manifestation of his proven approach of providing instrumental tapes with an overarching theme, motto or a restriction – on the P110 released in 2013, for example, he only used samples from the GDR series “Polizeiruf 110” – he still has it in 2021, albeit with a wink , close to playlist rap. With the self-image expressed in the title, AKA DER COACH took up how influential football has become as a metaphor, especially in the past five years, for this German rap, its song titles and puns.

However, the “Coach” LP did so without the rappers represented being instinctively associated with that part of the scene where leotards are an integral part of the uniform. This is also the case for the second part of the series. Nevertheless, the 19 guests represent a number of influential currents in contemporary German rap. Torky Tork continues to take his self-chosen role as coach and scouting director seriously.

In 2022, the two albums NACKT, the joint project by Wandl and Döll, produced by Torky Tork, and the eighth Audio88 and Yassin record BACK IM GAME VOL.1 were released. His production was recently heard on the current Fatoni single “Wonderful World”.
