Drug waste in gym, municipality of Den Bosch closes building

A gym has been closed by the municipality of Den Bosch, because hundreds of liters of drug waste have been found. During a check, the police and the municipality found barrels and jerry cans, good for at least 750 liters of chemicals. The municipality wants to close the building for a longer period of time.

“Everyone wants to live and work in a safe environment, without having to worry about fire hazards or hazardous substances in the area,” says Mayor Jack Mikkers. “Drug waste can cause this. And what’s more, the production often shows connections with serious crime.”

In addition to the action at the gym, the municipality of Den Bosch carried out a large-scale check at 80 take-out and delivery businesses last week. This was done together with the police, the UWV, the tax authorities and customs.

Declared uninhabitable
Illegal aliens and asylum seekers were working at several entrepreneurs, the municipality writes. A large amount of counterfeit branded clothing was also found and an entrepreneur illegally sold tobacco. Two buildings were immediately declared uninhabitable because they were in poor structural condition.
