You wouldn’t immediately expect a drug lab in a bungalow park. Yet that is what was discovered in April in a holiday home in Het Vennenbos in Hapert. 100 liters of GHB and six liters of raw materials, 3 kilos of amphetamine and a thousand ecstasy pills were then found inside. A 31-year-old man from Oss who was involved in this was given a five-year prison sentence by the court in Den Bosch on Wednesday. Six years was demanded.
The man was also convicted of possessing three shooting pins, which can be used to fire bullets.
He had started producing and selling drugs in his hometown of Oss in January. Evidence of this was found in his home. He had customers in the Netherlands and Germany. According to the judge, the man was active under pseudonyms such as ‘Powderbaas’ and ‘the Bende van Oss’.
No responsibility
He only thought about making money and was not concerned at all about the risks, the judge ruled. The major explosion in the holiday home could have had greater consequences. The man was also blamed for not taking any responsibility for his behavior. The judge did not buy his story that he did not realize what he was doing due to his own addiction. Also because he has previously been convicted of drug and weapons crimes.
Nor did the judge believe in his defense that a 29-year-old woman from Oss had pulled the strings. She was arrested at the same time as the man in April. She is still considered a co-suspect, but it is not known if and when she will appear in court. Justice has yet to make a decision on this.
‘Make-do’
According to the police, it was not a professional drug lab in Hapert: narcotics were made there ‘by random means’, according to the police. The lab was discovered after an employee of the holiday park saw scales and test material through the window.
