VERCELLI – The enormous drought problem in Italy also has consequences for the rice farmers in the Po Valley in the north of the country. The tensions are cut. The rice farmers no longer trust each other, report each other to the police or even fight each other. The Dutchman Michel Wichers (51), general manager of Sanorice Italia in Vercelli (Piemont region), hears all the stories.
