Driver who caused fatal collision Breda drove too fast

The driver of the car that caused the fatal collision in the Graaf Engelbertlaan in Breda on Friday night drove at least 100 kilometers per hour. According to BN De Stem, this is the result of an initial investigation by the police. There is a maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour. On Saturday it was already known that the driver was under the influence and may have ignored a red traffic light.

The accident happened around 2:30 am when an 18-year-old woman from Bavel, who was waiting for the traffic lights on Mastbosstraat, got the green light and wanted to enter Graaf Engelbertlaan. As she accelerated, she saw out of the corner of her eye that a motorist was approaching from the left at high speed.

The woman was unharmed in the accident, but the co-driver in the speeding car was thrown from the car on impact and died.

The 33-year-old driver of the car that allegedly ignored the red traffic light was taken to hospital in an ambulance. He is seriously injured. An investigation shows that he had drunk too much alcohol. He’s been arrested.
