Driver of stolen truck drives into police car on A16, officer injured | NOW

A man who was driving a stolen truck ran into a police car on the A16 on Sunday afternoon. An officer sustained minor injuries.

The officers saw through the automatic number plate recognition that the truck was registered as stolen. Despite a stop sign, the truck driver drove on. A short chase ensued.

The man then drove into the official car with the truck. That happened around 5 p.m. between the Galder and Hazeldonk interchanges. Police are still looking for witnesses and drivers who took footage.

The man has been arrested and is in custody. The National Unit cannot share any further information about him. The injured officer is now doing well.
