A motorist was stranded in Asten on Monday afternoon with an empty battery. Nothing special, but when he started his car with jumper cables, the vehicle spontaneously locked and the owner was unable to get behind the wheel. He left the running car behind to get the spare keys in Oss. This is a round trip that takes you about an hour and three quarters of an hour.
While the owner and his girlfriend were on their way to Oss, the car in the Asterstraat slowly started to pick up steam. When the cooling of the car broke down, bystanders saw smoke coming from under the hood. In an attempt to stall the engine, they stuffed some textile into the exhaust. But that didn’t help and so the fire brigade was called. He knocked in a side window to get to the ignition key.
When he returned, the owner could only watch as his car had to be towed.
