The girl was hit by a car on the Heerderweg in Gelderland while she was cycling there with a boy. The driver continued driving after the accident. The police were looking for a light-colored Volkswagen Polo from the period 1995-2005. According to witnesses, the car came from the direction of Heerde and drove in the direction of Epe.
Earlier on Sunday, the police could not say anything about the continued driving, or whether it was intentional or not. police spokesman Henk Kremer: “That is part of the investigation. We are looking to see if there is any camera footage.”
The mayor of Epe, Tom Horn, informed Omroep Gelderland earlier on Sunday that his thoughts are with the family, friends and classmates of the deceased girl. “This has a lot of impact in Epe, a village where many people know each other.”
