A co-driver was injured in a single-vehicle accident in Zaandam, in which a motorist left the road and damaged several vehicles. The victim had to be taken to hospital for treatment. The motorist was also transported to hospital for evaluation. A breath and saliva test showed that the driver was probably under the influence.
The accident happened this morning on the business park of a car dealership on Stormhoek. The vehicle left the road near the Cornelis Bruijnzeelweg. The car then drove across the cycle path and rammed the gate of the car company. The rental car the driver was driving was severely damaged.
A breath and saliva test showed that the driver was probably under the influence of both alcohol and drugs. A blood test must show to what extent the driver was under the influence.
There was a second passenger in the vehicle. This one was not injured.
