After two canceled editions, Spoorpark Live took place for the first time on Saturday. Visitors to the brand-new Tilburg festival did have their pick in the blazing sun, but most of them had thought of something. “A little less alcohol, a little more water.”
Earlier this week it was announced that the organization of Spoorpark Live would take extra measures due to the expected heat. “We have extra shady spots, water taps and a post with sunscreen,” says Jasper van de Wouw.
And with that, according to the co-organizer, it should all work out. “We haven’t had any calamities today.” It also helps that many visitors have also taken the heat into account. “We see a lot of people with a cap. And they drink a little less alcohol and a little more water. Tonight when it’s a bit cooler, we’ll turn that around again,” laughs Van de Wouw.
One woman has found another clever way to combat heat. “I have a tea towel around, which I occasionally wet. That way I keep cooling myself.” Two girls manage in a different way: “It’s sweltering hot, but we have to survive with our fans.”
On Saturday evening, Krezip and Danny Vera, among others, will still be on stage, tomorrow it will be the turn of names such as Kensington, Davina Michelle and Di-rect. Organizer Van de Wouw does have a secret favourite. “I’m a fan of Danny Vera. I can see it tonight: the setting sun, the weather a bit cooler and then the Rollercoaster chords. That will be fun.”
