Dressed-up residents of Anloo welcome almost 4000 visitors during the Etstoel

For the thirty-fifth year in a row, dressed-up villagers of Anloo today welcomed nearly 4000 visitors in the seventeenth century. This required overtime from the board and new organizers.

Only in April did it become clear that the Etstoel, as the annual event in the village on the third Saturday of August is called, would also take place this year. “We clearly had to sound the alarm”, explains board member of the Etstoel Anloo Foundation, Henk Doeven. “On that one day we can just count on the 400 volunteers, but the challenge was in the preparation.”
