Home European Championships for the German team: At the European Dressage Championships in Riesenbeck, the focus is on the duel between Bredow-Werndl and Fry.
The 2023 European Dressage Championships will take place from September 5th to 10th in Riesenbeck, Westphalia – with exciting decisions. Here is the most important thing about the home European Championship for the German team.
What is the climax?
All eyes are on the duel between the world’s two best dressage pairs: double Olympic champion Jessica von Bredow-Werndl with Dalera against double world champion Charlotte Fry with Glamourdale. It is the first direct encounter in this constellation and a foretaste of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
What else becomes important?
Three major titles are awarded: Team, Grand Prix Freestyle and Grand Prix Special. In the Nations Cup, Germany has won the last three European Championship titles and has chances for gold this time too. The strongest competition comes from England and Denmark.
The German team had recently subscribed to EM gold in the individual rankings as well. In 2017 and 2019, Werth was the double winner in the special and freestyle, in 2021 von Bredow-Werndl succeeded. However, the competition is strong, especially from England. In addition to Fry, Charlotte Dujardin is one of the favorites.
