The Woman in the Media Award 2022 was awarded tonight to Mirjam Kaijer from North Holland. She wrote the book I’m not a man and she aimed Voices for Women with which she draws attention to more research into gender differences in healthcare. With that she left Vera Vos from Drenthe behind, she was also nominated for the national title.
Each province provided a nominated woman who has profiled herself in the media in 2022.
In January, Vos was named Woman in the Media 2022 Drenthe. She was then chosen from eleven nominated Drenthe women. Vos was awarded the award for her series Passion in the Countryside. In it she wants to show that there is still plenty to experience in the countryside, and specifically in the municipality of De Wolden. Vos is thus a role model for young people from the countryside, according to voters and the jury. A total of 45,000 votes were cast in January.
With the annual award, organizers Speakersbureau ZijSpreekt and Mediaplatform Vaker in de Media want to encourage female experts and role models to be visible in the media. They also encourage editors to offer women a platform more often.
