Drink a cup of coffee on the terrace or grab an ice cream and then go for a nice walk in the sun. Many people enjoyed the beautiful weather today. And there is every reason to, because the meteorological spring has begun!
It was very busy on the Holtingerveld this morning. With good weather, many people often come to the place to walk, but because of the spring break, there was even more interest. Also from tourists from the West of the country. “How lucky with the first day of spring,” laughs a man. “It might as well have rained, but this is wonderful. I especially like the sheep that are still walking outside.”
Another boy is talking to his father a little further on. Normally he is not into walking, but today he likes it. “That’s because of the sun, otherwise I don’t need it.”
It was not only a good stay for the holidaymakers, the weather was also wonderful for the people who had to work. “We’re having a party,” says shepherd Judith de Groot. “I talk to people all day because they want to know exactly how I do my work. That makes it extra fun.”
Entrepreneurs also benefited from the sun’s rays. At ice cream parlor La Dolce in Borger there was enough interest for an ice cream all day long. “Perfect weather, so people often come to get something tasty,” says owner Vincent van Looijenberg. “The spring break also helps. We are here in Borger, a tourist village, then you notice that people quickly come our way.”
And those tourists dare to sit outside. Although, a group on the terrace at the ice cream parlor is just in the shade. “Unfortunately, the sun is now a bit behind the clouds. It’s wonderful, an ice cream, good weather and all that during the holidays.”
