Drenthe tulips in Thialf: ‘It would be best if Jutta Leerdam won’

At the end of the upcoming skating weekend, the winners of the World Cup Qualification Tournament will be standing in Thialf with Drenthe tulips in their hands. Kind regards from Grolloo.

For the third skating season in a row, flower bulb seller Carlijn Ammerlaan from Grolloo finds her way to the Frisian skating temple with her beloved tulips. “This is a nice working day, for sure. I can’t complain,” said Ammerlaan from Heerenveen. “We brighten up the hall with tulips five times a season.”

On behalf of Tulpen Promotie Nederland, she puts Thialf in the spotlight just before an important qualifying tournament. “At the front there will be two large flower boxes that will hold 200 tulips, fifteen buckets, 250 vases and of course the bouquets for the winners. These will go to the stage in the inside of the track.”

“It would be best if Jutta Leerdam won. So that she could be photographed with a beautiful bunch of us in her hands and share it on social media,” Ammerlaan laughs. “It appeals to me!”
