Drenthe Tours apologizes for transporting FC Groningen supporters in ‘Frisian’ bus

Bus company Drenthe Tours apologizes for using a bus decorated with pompeblêden to transport FC Groningen supporters to the away match against Helmond Sport. According to the carrier, it was a hired bus from another company.

The Groningen city blog Sikkom posted a photo showing FC supporters removing stickers from the bus.
The bus in question is owned by South West Tours in Dalfsen and is equipped with advertising stickers to promote a hotel chain in Friesland. Before that, the car was equipped with large pompeblêden, writes RTV North.

Drenthe Tours said it did not know that South West Tours would use this bus to transport Groningen supporters.

When the bus entered the forecourt at the Euroborg, it immediately became clear that the supporters had great difficulty with the stickers on the bus. Drenthe Tours then contacted owner South West Tours.

“They immediately understood that this was not a convenient action,” says an employee of the Drenthe bus company. “They have therefore given the supporters permission to remove the stickers from the bus.”

The stickers were removed from the bus in a short time, to the great satisfaction of the bus company: “Removing these types of stickers usually takes us quite a lot of time. So it is actually nice that the supporters did this for us.” It is not clear whether South West Tours will be asked to transport FC supporters again in the future.
