Drenthe Rally is canceled this year

Jack’s Drenthe Rally is canceled this year. The organization wants to move the event to the spring of next year.

The rally, which consists of several stages, would be held on November 18 and 19 on the TT Circuit and on roads in the countryside.

Municipal permits are required for tests in rural areas. According to the organization, the municipality of Aa en Hunze has decided not to grant a permit. In addition, the organization of the municipality of Tynaarlo and the municipality of Assen has not yet received a definitive answer as to whether a permit will be granted for the outdoor tests.

The organization says that due to the lack of a clear decision, it no longer sees an opportunity to organize and communicate the rally in a responsible manner in this short period of time. “We are therefore forced to cancel the event before the planned date and to see whether it could still take place in the spring of 2024,” reports Henk-Peter Meilink of the organizing body The Rally Foundation.

Last year the rally took place in a modified form. The municipality of Tynaarlo did not issue a permit at the time, because the application was incomplete at the time. The organization says it has done everything it can this year to meet the obligations for obtaining a permit.

The Drenthe Rally would be the final in the National Championship of the KNAC National Autosport Federation.
