“I expected it, but I didn’t think it would be that high.” It is the first reaction of PVV member Nico Uppelschoten from Eelde to the exit poll, which shows that the PVV appears to be the largest party with 35 seats.
The party was already in the top 3 in the polls and during the exit polls the PVV appeared to be head and shoulders above the rest. “I expected 30 seats, this is a wonderful outcome. I am now on my way to a party meeting to celebrate.”
Uppelschoten does have an explanation for the result. “This is a settlement with the previous cabinet. The voter has expressed his anger against, among others, the VVD and D66. People want something different, and they have shown that here.”
