Drenthe museums are running great during the autumn holidays

Museums in Drenthe have performed better this autumn holiday than before corona. The primeval weekend at the Hunebedcentrum in Borger even broke records. The expectation was 1,500 visitors, but that turned out to be 2,000.

“You always expect a little more visitors than on a regular day, but that much was certainly not predicted,” says head of communication Riemke Scharff.

It is now actually business as usual in Borger. But because the museum was closed in the spring due to corona, the total number of visitors this year will be slightly lower, it is expected. “I think we will end up with a total of 10,000 fewer visitors, which means 80,000 instead of 90,000 visitors,” said Scharff.

The Drents Museum received 8,500 visitors during the autumn holidays in 2019 and also scored better this year. “I think it exceeds expectations. If you look at the fact that we had almost 10,000 visitors in two weeks, we scored excellently,” says Paul Klarenbeek, marketing & communication coordinator.
