Drenthe has seven more walking routes due to collaboration between WMD and Drenthe Recreation Board

Crisscrossing Drenthe, the Drenthe Recreation Board and drinking water company WMD have opened seven hiking trails: from Annen to Assen and from Koekange to Emmen.

The routes have recently been given a makeover. “They were quite dated in places, so we replaced the direction indicators, so that everything is now neatly visible,” says Albert Broekman of the recreation board.

The routes vary from 3 to 10 kilometers. The drinking water company contacted the recreation board to breathe new life into the routes. Broekman: “We are happy that they thought of us to collaborate. While renovating the routes, we also immediately replaced the WMD signs, so we are killing two birds with one stone.”

The complete routes can be found on the websites of WMD and Drenthe Recreation Board. Broekman himself has already put on his walking shoes and walked the route around Gieten. “Highly recommended, absolutely.”
