Sex toy giant EasyToys has won the Groningen Enterprise Award. Eric Idema’s company from Annen is overjoyed with the prize. “A great recognition after all these years of hard work,” he says at RTV Noord.
EasyToys – which is located in Veendam – defeated the two other finalists, hardware store Wovar owned by Jesse Keizer from Koekange and Online Auctioneer. The latter companies have their premises in Groningen.
Idema started his company EasyToys in his attic room in Annen. He had lost his job, was on benefits and was having difficulty scraping together enough money to pay the mortgage on the house he had just bought. writes the broadcaster.
Now EasyToys has almost five hundred employees and sells toys, lingerie, condoms and other sex items. It has offices in Berlin, Oslo and London.
