Drenthe College and Alfa College join forces in Assen

Drenthe College and Alfa College signed a cooperation agreement this morning with which they will join forces in the field of sports. With their new Sports and Exercise Campus they hope to be able to offer an even more extensive range of training courses.

Ultimately, the agreement should provide a more challenging learning environment. “The collaboration provides opportunities for deepening and broadening education. This enables us to provide good professionals in this field,” says Mare Riemersma-Diephuis. She is a member of the Executive Board of Drenthe College.

The signing of the agreement took place in the Stadsbroekhal in Assen. This was with an underlying idea, because a place to house the campus is still being sought. “The program does not have a fixed location. We try to train our students in practice as much as possible. Not in one building, but in the place that is best suited for the sport. It would be nice to have a central location. have for the campus, from where people move,” says John van Apeldoorn. He is training manager of the new Sports and Exercise Campus in Assen.

A letter of intent has now been drawn up between the Stadsbroekhal and the Sports and Exercise Campus Assen. These parties are now going to see whether it is possible to work together. “It would be very nice if the campus could be located in a place where different sports come together,” says the spokesman for alderman Albert Smit of sports.

The velodrome has been located next to the Stadsbroekhal since 2016. The Sports and Exercise Campus would also like to use this track. The only problem is that the track is not covered yet.
