Damveld studied several documents from the government and the COVRA (central organization for radioactive waste) and comes to the conclusion that only the Zoutkoepel Gasselte-Drouwen is eligible for a test drilling. Such a bore is examined whether the dome is really suitable for the storage of radioactive waste. The documents in question states, among other things, the requirements that salt umbrella organizations must meet. According to Damveld, all other possible storage locations in the Northern Netherlands will drop out, according to Damveld.

“Of course you can be well in favor of the storage at Gasselte,” says Damveld, “because it certainly provides employment, but it can also cause a lot of unrest. As said, I hear little about this from the environment, I don’t know who is there tonight at the presentation of my booklet, but it seems good that residents of the area are informed.”
