Dream shatters for Jesper de Jong after losing in qualifying Roland Garros

Jesper de Jong can forget about the main tournament of Roland Garros. The 21-year-old tennis player from Hoofddorp narrowly lost to Daniel Masur in the second round of the qualifying tournament: 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3).

De Jong, the number 137 in the world, won his match yesterday easily from Vit Kopriva (6-2, 6-3)† De Jong also started his match against the German well by winning the first set of 4-6. He had to leave the second set to Masur, after which De Jong saw the victory pass after an intense last set: 7-6. To get through to the main tournament, De Jong, who has never played at a Grand Slam, also had to win the third preliminary round.

Tallon Greek track has already been qualified for the clay tournament in Paris. De Nieuw-Venneper won his match in the eighth finals in Geneva today and is therefore in the quarterfinals of the ATP tournament.
