Draw: Darts World Cup – Hempel meets Brown

Status: 11/28/2022 8:35 p.m

Germany’s darts professionals were allocated feasible lots in the draw for the World Cup in London.

The unseeded Florian Hempel has to deal with the Englishman Keegan Brown in the first round, but would face the English top player Luke Humphries directly in the event of a win.

Gabriel Clemens and Martin Schindler start the tournament at Alexandra Palace with a bye. In round two, Clemens could meet debutante and women’s world champion Beau Greaves, who previously played against Irishman William O’Connor. Schindler has to deal with the winner of the duel Martin Lukeman (England) against Nobuhiro Yamamoto (Japan). From the seed list it appears that both Clemens (against England’s James Wade) and Schindler (against England’s Michael Smith) would have very difficult tasks in a possible third round.

Fallon Sherrock, who became the first woman to defeat two men at the World Cup three years ago, meets Ricky Evans at the start. The tournament starts on December 15th and lasts until January 3rd.

Max Hopp is absent from the World Cup

Not at the World Cup is Germany’s former leader Max Hopp, who missed the last chance for a ticket in an international qualification. Glen Durrant, who used to be world champion with the BDO association and is now leaving, will no longer play on the tour. Both Hopp and Durrant do not have a so-called Tour Card, which entitles them to participate in many major PDC tournaments.
