Status: 08/28/2022 3:46 p.m

1. FC Kaiserslautern, despite a furious performance in Betzenberg style, missed out on a promotion place in the 2nd Bundesliga.

The four-time champions did not get more than 4: 4 (2: 3) in the promoted duel against 1. FC Magdeburg on the 6th matchday after leading twice.

The 35,643 spectators in the Fritz Walter Stadium saw an exciting and extremely intense game in the first half. After the early FCK lead by Terrence Boyd (7th), Magdeburg responded with three goals within eleven minutes. Moritz Kwarteng (11th), Mo El Hankouri (17th) and again Kwarteng turned the game around.

The second half starts turbulently again

Kaiserslautern fought back into the game and made the connection through Boris Tomiak (40th). With the narrow 2:3 deficit at the break, the Palatinate were well served overall.

The second half was turbulent, and it only took 90 seconds for Philipp to equalize through Hercher (47th). Even after the goal, the game continued to swing back and forth. Both teams were close to scoring another goal.

Video evidence and own goal

After video evidence, Kaiserslautern received a penalty kick, which Mike Wunderlich safely converted (66th). The fact that Magdeburg equalized with an unfortunate own goal by Tomiak (80th) suited the crazy game.

Magdeburg scores three times in a row

Magdeburg have to play away at SC Paderborn on Matchday 7 (Saturday, 1 p.m.). A day later, Kaiserslautern plays in Sandhausen (Sunday, 1.30 p.m.).
