Dranouter brings in West Flemish names, including Flip Kowlier and Brihang
“With a few more West Flemish special guests, the set of ‘Het Beste van ‘t Westen’ on Saturday 6 August will be an unseen headliner of size,” it sounds in a press release.
foretaste
Anyone who was there during the performance of Het Zesde Metaal at the Dranouter Summer Sessions XL has already had a foretaste. The festival audience went wild when Flip Kowlier and Wannes Cappelle performed a kind of mash-up of Flip’s ‘Welgemeende’ and ‘I don’t hate you’. Wannes Cappelle surprised with raps on ‘Zeg ne ki oe Laat ist?’, an anthem by Flip’s band ‘t Hof Van Commerce.
Brihang made a cameo and picked up a stanza. The formula Wannes, Flip and Brihang was christened the Holy Trinity on social media. Thus, according to the organization, the seed for ‘The Best of the West’ had been planted.
New album
Anyone who has seen De Dolfijntjes at Festival Dranouter knows that the roof is blown away: the catchy songs, the unadulterated West Flemish absurdism and the pure fun playing. The Dolfijntjes have been on stage together for 30 years and they are coming with a new album.
After MC work with rap collective ‘t Hof van Commerce, the versatile Izegem native Flip Kowlier took the stage for the first time in 2000 under his own name. Fans had to wait nine years for new work, but he recently released his new CD ‘September’.
‘The Best of the West’ will be on stage together on August 6.
