A visitor to the 24-hour Solexrace in Heeswijk-Dinther was killed on Saturday night. He and some friends tried to lift a heavy tree trunk. This went wrong. The tree trunk ended up on top of the 21-year-old man from Deurne.
The accident happened around 2 a.m. Ambulance officers and a trauma helicopter were immediately called, but the victim died before he could be taken to a hospital.

Police were investigating the site after the fatal accident. The event was halted for some time before that. The location has since been reopened. “We assume a fatal accident and are not investigating further,” a spokesperson said.
