Drake is said to have used a sample from the Pet Shop Boys without permission

The Pet Shop Boys accuse Drake of sampling their song “West End Girls” without giving them credit.

The Pet Shop Boys have accused Drake of using a sample from their track “West End Girls” for his new song “All The Parties” without first asking their permission.

The Pet Shop Boys speak out on Twitter

On Friday (October 6th), Drake released his eighth studio album FOR ALL THE DOGS. The track “All The Parties” can also be found on it, on which the 36-year-old sings, among other things: “East End boy and West End girls”. This is intended to be reminiscent of the Pet Shop Boys’ 1984 song “West End Girls” both lyrically and melodically. On this, the London duo sings: “In a West End town, a dead end world/ The East End boys and West End girls”. After the release of FOR ALL THE DOGS, the Pet Shop Boys complained via Twitter that they had not been informed:

“Surprisingly, @Drake sings the chorus of “West End Girls” on the track “All the Parties” on his new album. No credits given or permission asked.”

The Canadian rapper has not yet commented on the allegations.

In the meantime, the Pet Shop Boys are working on the reissue of their record RELENTLESS, which will be released to celebrate the album’s 30th anniversary. The album, released in 1993, is considered a sought-after collector’s item as only 500 copies of the LP were produced.
