Ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl has won his fourth win in a row with the Edmonton Oilers in the North American professional league NHL. International striker Draisaitl provided an assist as the Canadians made it 3-2 at the Calgary Flames in the second “Battle of Alberta” of the season.
With 15 points, the native of Cologne is tied with teammate Connor McDavid behind Boston’s David Pastrnak (16) in second place in the NHL scorer list. McDavid was the outstanding player with a goal and two assists in the victory over the Flames, who had won the first Prestige match 4-3. Edmonton are the second-best team in the west with 12 points from nine games behind the Vegas Golden Knights (14).
Despite attacker Nico Sturm’s fourth goal of the season, the San Jose Sharks suffered their eighth loss in eleven games in a 3-4 loss at the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Augsburg-born storm continued its upward trend, scoring for the third time in the last four games.
After the last two defeats, forward John-Jason Peterka and the Buffalo Sabers celebrated a win again in a 5-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, while youngster Peterka was not involved in a goal. Defense ace Moritz Seider and the Detroit Red Wings also stopped the downward trend after two bankruptcies and defeated Minnesota Wild 2-1.
National striker Tim Stützle conceded the second defeat in a row with the Ottawa Senators at the Florida Panthers (3:5). Goalie Philipp Grubauer was not used in Seattle Kraken’s 3-1 home win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
