Dozens of people taken to hospital after sweltering street parade in Berlin (and police appeal to people to “please keep their clothes on”) | Abroad

The fire brigade did not go into detail about the condition of those involved in a Twitter message, but it was very hot during the massively attended dance parade. Temperatures in Berlin rose above 30 degrees. The police were even forced to ask visitors to keep their clothes on on Saturday. Also, some people would have jumped into the river.

Authorities estimate that eventually some 200,000 rave fans turned out for the spiritual successor to the Love Parade. That dance festival was not held after 2010 after 21 people were killed in a tragic edition in Duisburg. Hundreds of people were also injured in the crash.

Whether Rave the Planet could continue was unclear until the last moment. The emergency services extensively checked whether all safety requirements were met.
